Meet the members of our wonderful Well-Being Team

As a leading care provider, our residents are at the centre of everything we do and we strive to deliver the utmost levels of person-centred care to each person. To complement the traditional care that we provide within our Care Homes, we employ a dedicated Well-Being Team of specially trained therapists.

Our Well-Being Team provide complementary therapies designed to further enhance the quality of life of our residents. Treatments include massage, aromatherapy, reflexology, professional manicures, yoga exercises and breathing techniques and Dementia massage.

Please note that due to the wide spread of our 13 Homes throughout Kent, Surrey and Essex, the Well-Being Team are not available at some of our Homes.

Kay Wade

Complementary and Dementia Massage Therapist at Hengist Field Care Home

Having nursed her mother who was living with dementia, Kay decided to retrain and qualified as a Complementary and Dementia Massage Therapist after enjoying a long career as a Bank Manager. The Nellsar Well-Being Team was formed after meeting with Glenda Osmotherly (Director of Operations) in 2016 when they discovered a shared belief that the well-being of our residents could be enhanced by offering a more holistic approach. Kay attended training courses with experts in Dementia Massage, including Luke Tanner and Nicolle Mitchell, and saw how much people with dementia can benefit from nurturing touch and gentle massage with aromatherapy oils.

Shirley Llewelyn

Reflexologist at Hengist Field Care Home and The Old Downs Residential Care Home

Shirley trained as a Reflexologist in 2016 at the London School of Reflexology and is a member of the Association of Reflexologists, with her own private practice in Gravesend. Qualified to provide Hand, Feet and Facial Reflexology, Shirley has worked as part of Nellsar’s Well-Being Team at
Hengist Field Care Home since 2016. Shirley previously worked as a Human Resources specialist in the public sector but now thoroughly enjoys working with our residents and staff, providing lovely relaxing treatments.

Nina Long

Holistic Massage Therapist and Yoga Teacher at Lulworth House Residential Care Home

Nina is a fully qualified Holistic Massage Therapist and Yoga Teacher with over 10 years’ experience. Having completed her massage training at the Richdales Institute in London, Nina qualified as a Yoga Instructor in Spain in 2002, joining the Nellsar Well-Being Team in 2016. The massage treatments Nina provides for our residents are designed with their individual well-being in mind and she adapts every treatment to suit each person, depending on their mood that day, while incorporating various aspects of Yoga as and when possible. Nina loves spending time with residents and is fully committed to enhancing the well-being of each and every person.

Linda Haynes

Complementary Therapist at Bromley Park Care Home

Linda was a Nurse Practitioner for over 40 years, working with people living with dementia, and she began working as a Complementary Therapist in 2018. Specialising in Face and Foot Reflexology, Linda uses her knowledge of Massage and Touch Therapy to connect with our residents with dementia. Linda classes working as part of the Nellsar Well-Being team as the ‘most satisfying job she has ever done’ and she is an advocate for intergeneration integration for alleviating symptoms of dementia. With a qualification in Baby Massage and experience in skincare formulation, Linda hopes to introduce these benefits to Nellsar residents too.

Meike Shand

Reflexologist at Meyer House Care Home and Sonya Lodge Residential Care Home

Meike is an experienced and dedicated Reflexologist. Having completed her Reflexology training over 10 years ago, she has continued to qualify in specialisms such as Hand and Facial Reflexology. Combining her training with experience of nutrition and well-being, Meike is also qualified in Reiki Level 1. After graduating with a degree in Event Management and Tourism, and a short spell in the industry, she felt her calling was in something more about helping others. Working as part of the Nellsar Well-Being Team, alongside caring for her two sons, Meike also runs her own Reflexology business.

Becky Basso

Holistic Therapist at Hengist Field Care Home

Becky qualified in 2003 with a Level 3 VTCT Diploma in Holistic Therapies and has since developed the range of therapies she can offer, most recently gaining her Reiki Master Teacher qualification. She spent several years working with vulnerable young people in the charitable sector and has worked as a volunteer at Age UK and the Wisdom Hospice. Most significantly for Becky is her personal experience of a close family member affected by dementia and how she was able to help using hands on therapies. Joining the Nellsar Well-Being Team in 2017, she feels privileged to have the opportunity to develop relationships with and offer compassionate and nurturing treatments to our residents.
